So when Laura Doughtry ends up dead at the bottom of her stairs on a hot afternoon in June, Jim is determined to figure out what happened. Not just because of the family the mother of two left behind, but to restore calm in his tiny county on Florida’s Gulf Coast.
But as he digs in to the undercurrents of the dead divorcee’s life—he can’t help but wonder about the darker side of making a life in Paradise.
